For each LifeStraw you purchase, one school child in a developing community receives safe drinking water for an entire school year.

Our comment: The main difference between this filter and other portable and affordable filters for the outdoor market is that the Lifestraw Family filters viruses out of the water. Most outdoor filters do not filter viruses. This makes the LifeStraw family particularly interesting for use in developing countries, during disasters, and for emergency preparedness.

The main difference between the Lifestraw Mission and the Lifestraw Family is the container in which you fill the dirty water. For use outdoors we recomment the Lifestraw Mission since the flexible water bag is easier to store and to carry than the hard plastic container of the Family model.
