The Wisport ZipperFox 25 is the little brother of the ZipperFox 40. The ZipperFox is a new and innovative model by Wisport. It comes with a 4-way zipper that runs around the whole pack, which allows you to open it exactly where you want to, up to all the way around the pack. This creates a pack that you can open only on top or like a front-loader. The four zipper pulls allow you to quickly access your gear from pretty much any spot you want to without having to open the whole pack.
The pack features a water bladder pocket between the back panel and the main compartment, which means that you don't have to open the backpack to access the water bladder. There is a loop on top to attach the bladder, a velcro closed hole for the tube, and one clip and elastic loop on each shoulder strap for the hose.
The inner of the pack features many different pockets to organize your gear. There is a large elastic pocket at the back with a small zippered pouch for valuables, keys, first aid kit, etc, over it. The left side of the interior has two large zipped mesh pockets that cover the whole side of the pack. On the other side are two smaller mesh pockets with elastic opening at the base. On top of the right side is a Molle-Panel which allows you to customize the interior of your pack with any Molle-compatible pouch, holster, etc...
The front flap that can be completely opened down to the base of the pack features a large simple pocket at the base and a zippered mesh pocket on top, which can also be used for kit that you need quick access to.
On the outside the backpack has two compression straps per side, which are long enough to fit additional gear under them. Long items that are slipped under the compression straps can be additionally secured unter the carrying handle/ski holder at the packs base, and also in the narrow elastic mesh part at the base.
There are also two very long compression straps on the base of the pack, which can also be used to secure additional gear like sleeping pads, blankets, etc, at the base of the pack.
Four square D-rings on the front panel of the pack can be used to run additional straps through in order to attach additional gear to the front part of the pack.
The carrying system is Wisport's SAS Ergonomic system, which now features a removeable aluminium strap at the middle of the back. This aluminium strap can also be bent in order to adapt to the shape of the user. The shoulder straps are very wide, ergonomically shaped, nicely padded and feature several loops and webbing in order to attach gear and the hydration tube. Each shoulder strap is attached to the top part of the pack with an adjustable strap in order to control the weight distribution between your shoulders and your hips. The shoulder straps feature a quick-release system: the pack can be dropped very quickly be unbuckling the straps. The hip belt is very large and nicely padded as well and features Molle-webbing. Furthermore the hip belt is attached to the pack with an adjustable strap which allows you to adjust the position of the pack on your hips. The hip belt can also be removed completely.
An integrated rain cover is hidden in a velcro closed extra compartment at the base of the pack.

Our comment: The ZipperFox really is an exceptional backpack. When seeing it on pictures we were not sure if we would like the concept. And then we ordered one, and we tested it on a trip to the Austrian alps including traveling, hiking, and skiing. And the ZipperFox really did an exceptional job that we hadn't expected. The pack allows to carry a lot of stock very comfortable, and still has a low profile shape. The concept with the zipper is a true success.
